For Activist Appreciation Month, we welcome author, professor, and activist Jay O'Shea for a Fireside Chat about veganism as a systemic critique, beyond a personal choice. She reviews the historical example of the role of khadi, homespun cotton, in the early twentieth century Indian nationalist movement when thousands of people voluntarily rejected foreign-made clothing electing instead to wear homespun cotton. In this talk, she represents veganism and the animal rights movement as social justice movements.
