Tell Woodside Square Mall: Caged Birds Are Not a Mall Attraction

A number of caged birds, exotic and wild species, are being used for decoration and as attractions for @woodsidesquare mall in Scarborough ON. The barren enclosures contain little to no enrichment and some may appear large but are tiny when you think about the freedom a bird has in the sky. There is no natural light. The birds appear bored and/or stressed. There is a lot of loud noise coming from children, customers, mall shops, and mall staff. Even the lighting nearby some of the cages was bold and unnatural. It was especially shocking to see two cages containing owls, because owls are particularly elusive and prefer to hide from humans. All the birds are forced to eat, sleep, and live on display in barren cages surrounded by lights and noise, and no sunlight. So disappointing to know this exists in Scarborough. These birds should be moved to a sanctuary - especially the non-domestic breeds.
