Oppose the Religious Sacrifice of Innocent Birds (Kapparot)

Join us Sunday, Sept 9 at the Chabad of Irvine. This Chabad has performed the ritualistic cruelty known as Kapparot in previous years in its parking lot. The birds are exhausted little hens who have endured enough misery in their short lives on egg farms. They await more torture in the hands of those who practice this ritual. The birds sit stacked in cages one upon the other often without food and water. Each frail bird is eventually pulled from her cage, and carried around with her wings unnaturally pulled back. She's carried around like a person carries a jacket they don't care about. She's then moved or even swung around a person's head, and then her throat is cut. Her lifeless body is thrown in the trash. It's believed that the bird takes on the sin of the participant. Her death means they can go into the new year with out sin.
