The powerful meat industry is at it again—and this time, they're working with their allies in Congress to ram through a new Farm Bill that would gut crucial protections for animals and undo decades of legislative progress for famed animals. They hope to pass language in the Farm Bill that would dismantle California's Prop 12, which bans the in-state production and sale of eggs, veal, and pork that came from intensively confined animals. Thanks to Prop 12 and laws like it, millions of animals across the country are spared the agony of life in a cage. If this language passes in the Farm Bill, Congress would strip states of the right to set humane standards for animal products sold within their borders.
