Next Zoo Protest: SUNDAY, Oct 19 from 10 to noon

What is going on at the Los Angeles Zoo? To the consternation of the public and city officials, it shipped its last two elephants, Billy and Tina, to another zoo instead of to a sanctuary last spring. The zoo's fund raising nonprofit has cuts ties with it, claiming misuse of funds by the zoo director Denise Verret. As a result, the zoo's big money generating events like the Beastly Ball and Zoo Nights were all cancelled. Patrons report dilapidated exhibits and missing or depressed animals. A recent photo shows one of the many empty exhibits.
