Amherst: Protest UMass for Cruel Experiments on Monkeys!

Please join local PETA supporters in urging the University of Massachusetts–Amherst (UMass) to end its experiments on marmosets.
Agnès Lacreuse, a professor in UMass' Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, has received more than $5 million in taxpayer money from the National Institutes of Health to cage, torment, and ultimately kill marmosets. She claims to study menopause in marmosets, even though they don't experience this condition. Instead, she places hand warmers—that go up to 120 degrees—on the animals' bodies, ostensibly to mimic hot flashes. Lacreuse uses plastic cable ties (zip-ties) to bind marmosets into restraining devices, and implants electrodes into holes that she drills into their skulls. She cuts open their necks to expose muscle and threads electrode leads from the scalp and neck to the abdomen. When she is through with them, she kills them. UMass must shut down Lacreuse’s lab permanently! For more information and ways to take action, please visit: headlines.peta.org/marmosets-die-at-umass
