The commercial fishing industry drags fish from their ocean homes in huge nets (along with many unintended victims, such as dolphins, turtles, seals, and others), causing them to die slowly of suffocation or being crushed to death. Those who survive are often still alive when their gills are slashed and abdomens are cut open.
