DESCRIPTION:Grassroots vegan street activism challenging the belief that an
imals exist for humans to use\nEVENT INFO\nWelcome to Earthlings Experienc
e London\, where vegan activists come together to spread the truth about v
eganism. We use footage to spark conversations with the public.\nDepending
on the time of year\, we use a projector & screen or TV(s) and other devi
ces. \nWe sometimes take the outreach to London’s underground during very
rainy weather. \nWe hold two fixed events a week: \nWednesdays from 6PM ’t
	il 8PM by Shakespeare's Head\, Carnaby Street/Great Marlborough Street W1F
	 7HZ.\nSaturdays 6PM ’til 8PM by Empire Casino\, Leicester Square. \nIf yo
u would like to bring a device\, please feel free to download any of the v
	ideos from this link:\n https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1gHM9Fq2O_L
jfPpf-wsoUMlJqMiKHTKbt \nWe have placards to hold\, and information to han
d out.\nWe sometimes have full-face masks for those who wish to wear them.
\nAlthough there’s no formal dress code for Earthlings Experience\, our f
ocus is raising awareness for nonhuman species. Please ensure that your pr
esence and conversations reflect this\, so the focus remains on them rathe
	r than on personal appearance.\nWe don’t discuss another person’s diet\, a
s that shifts the focus to humans.\nWe don’t promote “baby steps” or congr
atulate members of the public for partial changes\, as that also centres t
he conversation on them.\nOur focus is challenging the belief that other s
entient species exist for human use.\nThe outreach is strictly abolitionis
t.\nBe they land\, water or air animals\, we must recognise that they have
moral value and are not things.\nWe must stop using them as resources of
any kind. \nWe must stop exploiting them in any way. \nWe must dismantle
the belief that they exist for us. \nWe must dismantle the belief that the
y are property. \nThe Earthlings Experience welcomes vegans to become acti
ve. Scroll down for the meaning of veganism. \nThose new to this type of s
treet activism are asked to hold a device or placard\, and to shadow anoth
er activist until they’re ready to have conversations with members of the
public. Holding a device or placard is important because they are often se
en first. \nThe Importance of Regular Outreach\nThis is not about us\; it'
s about amplifying the voices of nonhuman beings exploited by humans.\nStr
eet activism relies on a small number of dedicated individuals\, but it sh
ouldn't. With so many more who could join\, we need greater participation.
Personal engagement is vital. Even those who don’t stop to talk still see
our messages and those moments help plant seeds of awareness.\nAs vegan a
nimal rights activists and outreachers\, we must:\nSpeak about rights\, no
	t welfare.\nDemand moral consistency and reject injustice.\nReject 'baby s
teps' and utilitarianism.\nWe wouldn’t accept gradual\, minor reforms for
human injustices\, so why do so when it comes to other species? Campaignin
	g against specific forms of cruelty\, abuse\, suffering\, harm\, torture\,
killing and violence only strengthens a welfarist ideology — the same app
roach that has stalled progress for over 200 years. Industry profiteers wi
ll continue making small changes\, claiming they’ve “ended suffering\,” wh
ile welfarist organisations endorse them\, leading the public to believe t
heir choices are "humane."\nWelfarism pushes abolitionism even further int
	o the future.\nThe importance of Language\nWords matter: Talk about he\, s
he\, they\, and someone — not it\, that\, or something. Talk about amplify
ing voices\, not being their voice. Say flesh\, not meat (‘meat’ is produc
t-led language).\nPlants\nSentience refers to the ability to have subjecti
ve experiences\, emotions\, or consciousness. While plants respond to stim
uli like light\, gravity\, and touch\, these reactions are biochemical and
physiological — not conscious or emotional.\nSome researchers argue that
plants display a form of "intelligence" because they adapt to their enviro
nment\, communicate chemically\, and exhibit memory-like behaviour. Howeve
r\, this is vastly different from sentience\, as it does not involve consc
ious thought or feelings.\nIf plants were sentient\, it would reshape our
moral obligations towards them. However\, because they lack subjective exp
eriences\, most ethical frameworks do not extend rights to them as they do
	 to animals.
