SUMMARY:Todd Mission\, TX: Protest Cruel Elephant Rides at Texas Renaissanc
	e Festival!
DTSTAMP:20261015T220950Z
DTSTART:20261017T163000Z
DTEND:20261017T173000Z
DESCRIPTION:Please join local PETA supporters to protest the cruel elephant
rides at the Texas Renaissance Festival. Renaissance festivals may be cel
ebrating a different era\, but that's no excuse for embracing the archaic
abuse of animals by hosting cruel elephant rides. \nIn nature\, elephants
may walk dozens of miles a day\, but at fairs and festivals\, they plod in
endless circles and spend the rest of their time chained inside tractor t
railers or confined to small pens. \nHandlers force elephants to give ride
s under the fear of punishment with bullhooks—sharp\, steel-tipped weapons
used to jab\, strike\, and yank them in the most sensitive parts of their
bodies. They routinely suffer from painful and debilitating joint and foo
t problems and may sway back and forth endlessly—a symptom of psychologica
l distress.\nEvery elephant used for rides was captured from their wild ho
me and family when they were just a baby and sentenced to a lifetime of su
ffering. Their aging bodies are breaking down after decades of abusive tra
ining\, as well as forced performances and rides. They must be retired to
true sanctuaries before it’s too late. \nTo learn more\, please go to htt
ps://www.peta.org/renfest . \nPlease join local activists in educating fa
irgoers about the cruelty of elephant rides. \nWHEN: Saturday\, October 17
	\, 2026\; 11:30am – 1pm CDT \nWHERE: Please meet at 21997 FM 1774\, Plante
rsville\, TX 77363. (We’ll gather on the side of the road that Tamayo’s Ti
re Shop is on\, which is directly across from the entrance to the Texas Re
naissance Festival. Please see map here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/5awhesX3
	KvX9kekA8 ) \nCONTACT: Tristan\, TDeehan@peta.org \nAll materials\, such a
	s posters\, will be provided.\nPlease dress sharply in a PETA T-shirt (we
will provide one if you don't already own one)\, nice pants\, and close-to
ed shoes. We must ensure the focus remains on the animals\, without any di
stractions that could divert people’s attention.\nNo companion animals. Pl
ease refrain from bringing dogs\, as there might not be a comfortable plac
e for them to lie down during the protest.\nWe hope to see you there!\n
