DESCRIPTION:Please join local PETA supporters and Animal Rights Collective
of Chicago to protest Petco for selling birds and other animals\, followin
g a breaking investigation that revealed extreme animal suffering at a bir
d breeder with connections to Petco.\nA PETA investigator who worked under
cover at Creekside Birds\, a parakeet-breeding factory in Oklahoma that se
lls birds into Petco’s supply chain\, confines approximately 10\,000 birds
in filthy wire cages stacked from the floor to the ceiling. Birds were de
prived of veterinary care\, seriously injured\, sometimes left to die\, or
killed in horrifically violent ways. A senior worker killed birds by crus
hing their necks between his fingers\, slamming them against the ground\,
and even ripping their heads off before tossing them in the woods. Most ca
ges at Creekside haven’t been cleaned in years\, and the sensitive birds h
ad no escape from filthy wire prisons caked with waste and feces that pile
d into what an owner called “poop towers.” Workers boasted that they shot
and killed escaped parakeets with a BB gun\, while others were left to die
of exposure or predator attacks.\nDeath was rampant and routine at Creeks
ide. In just over five weeks\, workers found nearly 1\,400 birds dead—some
times 100 or more in a single day. The remains of dead birds were often ov
erlooked and left to decompose in cages. To the pet trade\, these birds’ l
ives are disposable\, and their deaths are the cost of doing business.\nFo
r more information and to learn more about the investigation\, please see
	this link:\n https://investigations.peta.org/creekside-birds-parakeet-bree
	der/ \nHere are the details:\nWHEN: Saturday\, October 3\, 2026\, 2 pm - 3
