SUMMARY:Billy & Tina's ZOO PROTEST
DTSTAMP:20261001T033035Z
DTSTART:20261004T170000Z
DTEND:20261004T190000Z
DESCRIPTION:Next protest: SUNDAY\, Oct 4 / 10 to 12 noon \nThe elephants at
the Los Angeles Zoo were removed and sent to the bleak Tulsa Zoo in May 2
025\, even despite calls from experts all over the world to send them to a
n elephant sanctuary instead. The city-owned zoo even ignored its own city
council when it asked for better options to be explored. The zoo director
Denise Verret claimed to be making the decision based on Billy and Tina's
"best interests\," but how can that be when sanctuary was never seriously
looked into? \nBilly and Tina are gone\, but 1\,700 animals of over 270 s
pecies remain at the zoo. All of them are subject to the same lack of empa
thy and concern for their interests. The zoo is a business\, plain and sim
ple\, and businesses look after their bottom lines\, not the concerns of t
heir commodities. \nWe are asking that the zoo\n1) officially commits to n
ever holding elephants again\n2) ends live exotic animal captivity for ent
ertainment and transitions to an educational conservation and biodiversity
center of local species and habitats. We ask that the zoo embrace the zoo
of the future starting now. \nJoin us at our next protest of the Los Ange
les Zoo! Let's help end animal suffering at the zoo and make the cruelty-f
ree zoo of the future a reality!\nSUNDAY\, Oct 4\, from 10 to 12 / LA Zoo
	/ 5333 Zoo Drive / Free parking.\nWhether you want to hold a sign\, chant\
	, do speakouts\, take photos and videos\, bang a drum\, chalk\, hand out f
lyers or talk to zoo goers\, we have a place for you with our team! Flyers
and posters are provided\, but we welcome your own handmade signs as well
	. YES megaphones\, NO talking to cops. \n \n\n \n \n
